FIELD: biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: method involves addition of formaldehyde portions in aerated reactor containing microbe population in an aqueous-mineral medium under control of oxygen level and pH value. Alkaline agent is added at the stage of acidity decrease at amount providing acidity increase up to 90% from its decrease range. Method involves the preferable use of methylotrophic bacterium Pseudomonas sp. VPKM NB-6798 strain as microbe population and ammonia is used as an alkaline agent. Portions of the added formaldehyde were increased up to medium acidity decrease below 6.0 and medium portions were removed from reactor by cyclic operation.
