FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: catalytic isomerization of C8 aromatic hydrocarbons is carried out at 523-773 K and pressure of 0.1-5.0 MPa in the presence of catalyst based on crystalline alumosilicate having the following composition: (1-3)M2O:Al2O3:(15-40)SiO2:(1-40)H2O, wherein M is alkali metal cation in which SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio on crystalite surface is greater or equal to the ratio of said components within crystals, and in 29-Si solid the mass NMR spectrum of which has absorption lines of about -100, -106, -112 and -116 ppm relative to tetramethyl silane standard. Use of said catalyst makes process more efficient. EFFECT: more efficient method. 6 dwg tbl
