FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of isomerisation of unbalanced raw material mixture of aromatic compounds C8, which contains xylenes and ethylbenzol, including successive stages: (a) contacting of raw material mixture in liquid phase in absence of hydrogen in first zone of isomerisation with first catalyst of isomerisation, which contains from 10 to 99 wt %, of at least one zeolite aluminosilicate and binding agent based on inorganic oxide, in absence, in fact, of platinum group metal, in conditions of first isomerisation, in order to obtain intermediate flow; and (b) contacting of all intermediate flow in second zone of isomerisation with second isomerisation catalyst, which contains from 0.1 to 2 wt %, of at least one component from platinum metal group, from 10 to 90 wt %, molecular sieve MgAPSO-31, which has content of frame magnesium from 0.003 to 0.035 of mole parts, and binding agent based on inorganic oxide, in conditions of second isomerisation, in order to obtain isomerised product, which contains at least one alkylaromatic isomer, whose concentration is higher, than balanced concentration in conditions of second isomerisation.
