FIELD: chemical, petrochemical and other industries. SUBSTANCE: claimed method comprises passing initial reaction gas containing 6-12 % methanol, 4.5-7 % oxygen and the inert gas balance successively through several layers of catalyst substantially made of metal oxides. Reaction gas temperature at each bed inlet is maintained at 200-280 C. Oxygen is added to partially reacted bed at reaction gas to oxygen volumetric ratio of 1:(0.05-0.03) so that the oxygen concentration in reaction gas is 2-6.5 %. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 2 cl
