FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: bottom plate of metal having melting temperature higher than coking temperature of carbon material is installed on hearth of furnace to be started, coke is loaded in layer of 20 to 30 cm thick, sheet of current conductive material is installed, upper electrode is lowered on it and alternating electric current 0-(5.0-6.0) kA/sq. m of hearth of furnace is passed in the course of 42-45 h. Then sheet is removed, mixture of salts of alkali and alkali-earth metals with salt to coke ratio 1:(10-20) parts by mass is loaded and current 11.0-12.0 kA/sq.m of hearth of furnace is passed in the course of 1.0-2.5 h. After this interpole distance between electrodes is set to be 12.0-20.0 cm. EFFECT: enhanced production efficiency of method.
