FIELD: heat-power engineering; hot water supply systems for buildings and structures. SUBSTANCE: gas-type water heater includes box-shaped housing with heat-transfer agent supply and return manifolds arranged inside it and provided with fittings and actuating mechanisms. Supply of gas is effected through gas manifold provided with cocks and control valves. Heating element is made in the form of set of identic units located in cellular manner; each unit is provided with its own heat exchanger, combustion chamber and burner. Combustion products are evacuated due to natural draught by common smokebox located above thermal units. Located on upper cover of housing is smoke branch pipe and automatic control system arranged in cabinet. Gas lines provided with electromagnetic valves supply gas from gas manifold to thermal units. Supply of heat-transfer agent from return manifold to heat exchangers of thermal units is effected through one pipe line and discharge is effected through other pipeline. Plunges fitted on gas and return manifolds, as well as on heat-transfer agent supply manifold make it possible to connect several water heaters forming plant of increased heating capacity. Heat-transfer agent supply manifold is provided with temperature setter. In case of change in nature of loading, gas burners of units are switched on/off in succession, thus increasing/descreasing thermal flow rate even though working units continue their functioning in optimal thermal mode because they are isolated by furnace chambers.
