METHOD OF DETERMINATION OF INDIVIDUAL TUMOR CHEMIOSENSITIVITY IN PATIENTS IN VITRO Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, oncology. SUBSTANCE: tumor samples were placed in Eagle nutrient medium, milled mechanically and put on standard cover glass with gelatin backing and covered with the same glasses from above. Glass pairs with explants were placed in plastic casettes with cultural medium and chemical preparations to be tested (one preparation in each casette). Then casettes were placed in thermostat at 37 C. Exposition with cytostatics was continued for 24 h followed by medium change and casettes were incubated again at 37 C for 3-4 days. Preparations were fixed, stained with hematoxylineosin and placed in polystyrene. The obtained initial and final area and its increases after contact with cytostatics were calculated by the formula: x 100% where: UX - chemiosensitivity index; UPm - mean arithmetic index increase in the presence of cytostatic; UPm - the same in control. Tumor is considered to be sensitive to the examined chemiopreparation at index chemiosensitivity less 50%. EFFECT: simplified and rapid method. 2 tbl
