FIELD: electrical engineering manufacture of light sources. SUBSTANCE: airing manufacture of high-pressure gas-discharge lamps, high-porosity gas absorbers activate in liquid nitrogen are attached to inlet current lead in parallel to envelope. 1-2 g of gas absorber mass is taken per 1 l of bulb volume; gas absorbers are arranged along current lead at certain distance from envelope to ensure their optimal heating and gas absorption during evacuation and in the course of lamp operation. In order to obtain above-mentioned effect, lamp is heated to 60-100 C in open air and evacuated to pressure of 2-5•10-2 mm Hg by means of fore pump; envelope is fired and automatically degassed; lamp is evacuated within 5-15 min to pressure of 5•10-5-5•10-6 mm Hg by means of nonspraying high-porosity gas absorbers. Then envelope power supply is turned off as usual, bulb is cooled down, and lamp is unsoldered from evacuation station. EFFECT: simplified and less expensive evacuation process; simplified design of evacuating equipment and reduced power requirement; improved light output of lamp. 4 cl, 4 dwg , 1 tbl
