FIELD: methods of breaking stable diluted emulsions; may be used in breaking emulsions of lubricant-coolants. SUBSTANCE: method includes contact of emulsion with demulsifying composition having micellar phase and excessive water and organic phases. Separation is carried out for 10-15 min. Demulsifying composition is used in form of micellar phase based on surfactants of various types. Demulsifying composition may be repeatedly used after correction of it by introduction of hydrophobic surfactant into micellar phase on the basis of ionic surfactants or by increase of temperature in system containing nonionic surfactant. EFFECT: higher efficiency of separation of dispersion phase from emulsions of both types (O/W and W/O) and provision of repeated use of demulsifying compositions. 4 cl, 1 tbl
