METHOD OF PREPARING CATIONITE AND CARBOXYL-CELLULOSE BASED CATIONITE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2095369 C1

FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: present invention describes methods of preparing carboxyl-cellulose based cationite by oxidation of cellulose, oxidation is carried out in two steps. First step includes oxidation with mixture of sodium and potassium periodates at sodium periodate to potassium periodate weight ratio of (10-15):1 in the presence of sulfuric acid at pH of 2.6-4.4 and temperature of 50-55 C. Second step includes oxidation with nitrogen oxides at pressure of 1.5-3.0 atm gauge, washing is carried out at frequency of 5-10 H2 and drying is performed at 80-90 C in vacuum. Carboxy-callulose based cationite is used as agent that absorbs and withdraws radionuclides and heavy metals. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 3 cl, 3 tbl
