FIELD: shipbuilding; steel-hulled commercial ships provided with at least one main engine. SUBSTANCE: steel-hulled ship has at least one main engine connected with propeller shaft and located in receiving room open at the top; auxiliary rooms are located around main engine. Receiving room for main engine is widening stepwise from bottom in breadth and length of ship's hull. Receiving room is formed by first, second and third groups of walls located stepwise. Height, length and width of these walls are multiple of base size. Auxiliary rooms are located in rectangular containers or in their frames arranged inside receiving room of main engine bounded with above-mentioned stepped walls having at least first size multiple of base size.
