FIELD: ferrocene or its alkyl derivatives may be used as additives for boiler or motor oils. SUBSTANCE: ferrocene is prepared by consequent interaction of cyclopentadiene with hydroxide of alkaline metal in the medium of dimethylsulfoxide and with salt of bivalent ferrum. Then alkylcyclopentadiene component interacts with salt of bivalent ferrum to obtain alkyl derivatives of ferrocene. Cyclopentadiene is prepared by distillation of oil fraction of C5 hydrocarbons being waste of oil processing, said fraction comprises derivatives of pentane and cyclopentane. Alkylcyclopentadiene component is prepared by interaction of mixture of hydroxide of alkaline metal, cyclopentadiene and halogenated alkyl at their molar ratio 2:1:1 respectively. Into thus obtained product salt of bivalent ferrum is added, its quantity being 0.5 moles per 1 mole of origin cyclopentadiene. Products are then isolated by commonly used procedure. EFFECT: improved efficiency.
