FIELD: geological methods of searches and prospecting for geological control of search and prospecting operations. SUBSTANCE: the method is based on the analysis of geological fields from the point of view of their variability. Variability of geological fields is determined in coefficients of deviation from the normal value of one of its physical characteristics reduced to a unit of area of the geological field under examination. Then vector diagrams of variability coefficients are plotted, the vector envelope is drawn, and the geological event is predicted in the point of intersection of the envelope with the vector of the maximum variability. The physical characteristic of the geological formation is predicted according to the distance between the focus of the vector envelope and the point of its intersection with the vector of the maximum variability with due account made for the scale of the selected representation of the geological field or map. The accuracy of determination of the space coordinates can be enhanced at the analysis of geological fields of one and the same territory according to the parameters with different physical characteristics, and according to the maps represented on different scales.
