FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: temperature controller has sensitive element made as bimetallic plate, flat spring carrying the forced elastic contact holder with contact, lever with adjusting screw, and fixed contact. Moving contact positioned on flat spring and fixed contact form switching contacts. In addition, temperature controller has auxiliary permanently closed contacts connected in series with switching contacts. Permanently closed contacts are pressed by electric heat-insulating rod resting on fuse link which contacts heat-sensitive bimetallic plate. To remove effect of errors resulting from manufacture of electric heat-insulating rod and fuse link on stability of contact pressure in permanently closed contacts, geometrical axes of the latter and of electric heat- insulating rod are shifted relative to each other. Temperature controller disconnects electric heating appliance from supply mains in case switching contacts fail to open because of their sticking or breakdown of contact holder spring. Disconnection is performed as a result of fuse link melting at maximum preset temperature. Thus electric fire hazard and failure of electrical heating appliance in the above-indicated emergency situations are avoided. EFFECT: more efficient construction. 2 cl, 2 dwg
