FIELD: machining of materials. SUBSTANCE: gear to form heated glass sheets has vacuum mould which surface determines profile of formed glass sheet, peripheral mould for formation and compaction of periphery of glass sheet on surface of vacuum mould and air for communication of surface of vacuum mould with at least one vacuum unit manufactured in the form of vacuum cylinder having 0.1 atm vacuum as minimum for formation of glass sheet by profile of surface of vacuum mould. Method of formation of heated glass sheet includes operations of bending and compaction of it between vacuum mould and peripheral mould with creation of vacuum pulse in vacuum mould for formation of glass sheet by configuration of surface of vacuum mould at two levels with subsequent increase of vacuum. Pulse of vacuum of 0.1 atm as minimum is formed at first level. Gear and method of vacuum formation provide for obtainment of various profiles of glass sheet including rectilinear elements, for instance, cylindrical and conical bends as well as profiles which include bends in lateral directions and bends with inverse curvature.
