FIELD: chemistry, petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method is carried out by hydrogenation of 2-ethylhexenal. The process takes place in liquid phase at 140-220 C and at pressure up to 30 MPa with the help of industrial catalyst, volume rate of feeding of raw materials is 0.3-1.0 h-1. Said catalyst comprises, mas. %: nickel, 52.5-55.2; aluminium, 42.0-45.0; titanium, 2.7-3.3; ferrum, not more than 0.7. EFFECT: simplified technology; increased productivity of the unit of reaction volume; decreased expense of catalyst per one unit of desired product.
