FIELD: wood working. SUBSTANCE: method of wood modification consists in preliminary impregnation of wood with a compound containing urethan syrup which is a product of interaction of polytetrahydrofurandiol and toluylenediisocyanate at a relation of the isocyanate groups of syrup and amino groups of curing agent equal to 1:0.5 to 0.8, and final impregnation with urethan syrup in the basis of the product of interaction of polytetrahydrofurandiol groups toluylendiisocyanite at a relation of isocyanate groups of syrup and amino groups of curing agent equal to 1:1. EFFECT: strengthening of wood surface layer, enhanced adhesion of coating to wood for a long period of service at impact and abrasive - impact loads, with preservation of a high wear resistance of wood. 1 tbl
