FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: unit includes melting and intermediate sections, detachable channel induction unit whose channels are in communication with melting and intermediate sections and blank casting device which is in communication with intermediate section. Additional reservoir arranged inside intermediate section is provided with vertical metal line and metal line which is brought in communication with blank casting device; provision is made for creating similar pressure of gas in intermediate section and reservoir. Vertical metal line which may shut off is provided with lock located inside additional reservoir. Blank casting device is made in form of semi-continuous casting machine. Method includes induction channel melting of charge in melting section, transfer of melt to intermediate section upon completion of melting, casting portion of melt from intermediate section into continuous blank and dividing blanks into measured lengths. In melting, melt is reciprocating between sections via channel of detachable induction channel unit; pressure of gas is repeatedly change in additional reservoir and intermediate section before beginning of casting; casting of melt is effected at reciprocating motion of melt between sections; preset temperature of melt is maintained due to adjustable induction preheating at consumption of energy proportional to losses of heat.
