FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: rectifier set has at least two converter units each incorporating converter transformer with on-load tap changer and rectifier unit connected to its valve windings and coupled through its DC leads with load; it also has compensating device common for both units in the form of reactor shorted out by condenser bank; when carrying load nonresponsive to stepped or stepless voltage fluctuations, DC voltage of rectifier set is regulated symmetrically and simultaneously by on-load tap changers of both units; when stepless voltage variation is essential, DC voltage of rectifier set is controlled asymmetrically in unit-by-unit manner and in turn by means of on-load tap changers of transformers of first and second converter units; number of turns of transformer control winding on each unit is maintained equal for all phases. EFFECT: improved characteristics of supply mains power, reduced loss, improved power characteristics of rectifier set. 1 dwg
