SUBSTANCE: identification means or valuable document uses a carrier having a translucent or transparent piece of paper or polymeric material with liquid crystalline material on it for production of effects different at observation in transmitted and reflected light. The mentioned piece has a water-mark, and liquid crystalline material is placed at least on a part of the water mark.
