FIELD: highway engineering. SUBSTANCE: compound includes organic binder, fine filler, mineral powder, and crushed rock. According to the first version of invention, asphaltic concrete compound has bitumen as binder and, as fine filler, mineral powder, and crushed rock, 94-96 wt % of metallurgical slag rejects with improved cube shape. The second version proposes bitumen as binder, metallurgical slag rejects with improved cube shape (86-90%) as fine filler and crushed rock, and open-hearth furnace fly ash (5-10%) as mineral powder. Using metallurgical slag rejects with improved cube shape provides highest density of frame of mineral part of asphaltic concrete compound which enables, with relatively low usage of bitumen, obtaining pavement with elevated stability and high performance characteristics. Introduction of open-hearth furnace fly ash, due to high content of iron oxides, enhances water and shear resistance of pavement. EFFECT: improved quality and service life of pavement. 2 cl, 4 tbl
