FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method of synthesis of cyanopyridines involves oxidative ammonolysis of alkylpyridines on catalyst of the following composition, wt.-%: vanadium oxide, 2-9; chrome oxide, 2-7; antimony oxide, 1-5; and aluminium oxide, the balance. Process is carried out at 310-400 C and catalyst loading 80-150 g alkylpyridine/l catalyst/h. The yield of the end product is up to 97%. The synthesized compounds were used in production of vitamins, drugs and herbicides. EFFECT: increased yield, simplified process.
