FIELD: metallurgy, more particularly, manufacture of cutting tools. SUBSTANCE: alloy comprises manganese, sulfur, silicon, vanadium, molybdenum, carbon, iron, barium. The proportions of components are as follows, wt.-%: carbon, 0.8-2.5; manganese, 0.20-0.60; silicon, 0.2-0.65; vanadium, 2.00-8.5; molybdenum, 3.50-9.00; barium, 0.01-0.12; sulfur, 0.02-0.15; and iron, the balance. Chromium+molybdenum+1.5 silicon ratio is equal or greater than 9.5. EFFECT: improved mechanical properties, heat resistance of alloy and greater resistance of cast cutting tools. 2 tbl
