FIELD: fuel industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves preliminary treatment of coal with ozone taken at amount 2-5 wt.-% of coal at room temperature, coal-oily paste preparing, addition of iron-containing catalyst subjected for mechanical-chemical treatment together with elemental sulfur and heating the obtained mixture under increased pressure in hydrogen medium and the following isolation of the end products. Waste of iron and polymetallic ores is used as iron-containing catalyst. Method ensures to increase coal conversion at relatively low (below 5 wt.-%) content of catalytic mixture in parent raw and can be used for synthetic engine fuel producing.
