FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: initial titanyl sulfate solution with much insoluble precipitate is prepared, allowed to stand at 35-39 C to form clarified solution with titanium concentration 38 to 44.5 g/l. Upper layer is separated and enriched in titanyl sulfate to 80-140 g/l titanium, 180-340 g/l sulfate ion, and not higher than 65 g/l chloride ion. Solution is then agitated, cooled, and desalting by ammonium sulfatitytanyl is effected by way of adding solid ammonium sulfate in two steps: first 30-40% ammonium sulfate of its total amount is added at the rate 0.22-0.27 kg/s and then remaining 70-60% with the rate 0.06-0.07 kg/s. Afterwards, crystallization, suspension filtration, and precipitate treatment are performed. EFFECT: optimized preparation procedure. 2 tbl
