OIL FILTER RESTRICTION INDICATOR Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; automotive internal combustion engines; lubricating systems. SUBSTANCE: oil filter restriction indicator is designed to indicate moment at which clogged oil filter is to be replaced. Device has temperature pickup 1 and engine speed pickup 2, two threshold devices 3 and 4, logic unit 7 and signalling element 11. Device is furnished also with threshold pickup 5 of oil filter inlet and output pressure difference, signalling bypass valve 6, different frequency pulse generators 8 and 9 and OR logic element 10. Logic unit 7 consists of standard AND logic elements 13-17 and inverters 18-20. Signalling device can be furnished with engine lubricating system minimum tolerable pressure threshold pickup 12. Signalling device informs the driver of necessity of filter replacement in advance and of the fact of operation of engine under stresses which require increased flow capacity of filter.
