FIELD: sewing engineering. SUBSTANCE: sewing needle is formed as rod with axial recess having ends, which are brought apart, when thread is to be released or introduced into recess. Recessed part of rod is made threaded and is terminating in stop. Sleeve is put onto rod for axial displacement along it. Internal surface of sleeve is provided with thread mating with that of rod recessed part. Construction of sewing needle allows it to be readily drawn through high-density fabric. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified construction and enhanced reliability in operation. 3 cl, 2 dwg
