FIELD: preparation of potable water by electrochemical methods. SUBSTANCE: method includes anodic oxidation, catalytic final oxidation and cathodic reduction, additional magnetic treatment of water is introduced during its transportation from anode chamber of electrolyzer to cathode chamber. Electrochemical treatment is carried out with anode current density higher than cathode current density. Titanium dioxide serves as catalyst for final oxidation. The plant for preparation of potable water has mechanical filter, electrolyzer with ionoselective membrane; installed on pipeline connecting anode chamber with cathode chamber is circular magnet. Pipeline is made of nonmagnetic material, anode and cathode are made from titanium. Anode partially has anticorrosive conducting coating. Cathode area exceeds the area of anode coated with conducting coating to obtain anode current density higher than cathode current density. Sorption filter of plant prevents against getting into water products of ageing of organic matter. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 5 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
