FIELD: nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: guide is mounted on tubing and gripping rod is dropped into tubing together with hanger. Safety slab is lifted by gripping rod through distance equal to working travel of expansion device and locked in position by means of hanger. Then gripping rod is replaced by manipulator and segmental members of supporting insert whose cross-sectional dimensions are smaller than graphite stacking channel are sequentially inserted in clearance formed between slab and stacking until they come in contact with side surfaces. Opposing segmental members are first to be installed and then safety slab is mounted onto them. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 4 cl, 16 dwg
