FIELD: oil and gas production industry. SUBSTANCE: this relates to oil deposits containing low-viscosity oil. According to method, gas cap is created or restored by injecting air into lower part of deposit lying inside or beyond its contour with subsequent displacement of oil by gas agent. In this case, distance between injection line and gas-oil reservoir must be no less than zone of complete consumption of oxygen (R) determined according to formula: , where fo - mole fraction of oxygen in injected air; ρo - density of oil, kg/cu.m; Vr - specific intensity of injecting air into well, cu.nm/day; π - 3.14; n - order of oxidizing reaction as to oxygen; Zf - concentration of fuel, kg/cu.m; W - specific volumetric intensity of consuming oxygen at given bed temperature and pressure, cu.nm/cu.m. This allows for increasing oil recovery due to creating fringe of concentrated gases at boundary of gas-oil reservoir. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 dwg, 2 tbl
