FIELD: mining and construction industries. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for making holes in ground, crushing rock matter, driving rod members into ground, compaction of ground, and other operations. Enhanced reliability of device is achieved due to improved design of shut-off valve. Device has body, striker, direct stroke chamber, reverse stroke chamber, shut-off valve made in the form of resilient ring installed in annular groove in outer surface of striker for possible interaction with inner surface of body which has forward circular protrusion and reverse stroke limiter. Compression air is delivered to direct stroke chamber via passage and to reverse stroke chamber also via passage. Initial closing of reverse stroke chamber takes place at moment when resilient ring touches forward circular protrusion. At this, increasing pressure in reverse stroke chamber comes to bear on inner surface of resilient ring and stretches it. At end of reverse stroke, resilient ring comes over reverse stroke limiter (shoulder), turns in groove and, under action of elastic force and air pressure exerted on outer surface of resilient ring, contracts quickly. Discharge of compressed air from reverse stroke chamber is performed. At end of direct stroke, impact is executed, resilient ring comes over forward circular protrusion, reverse stroke chamber is closed, and cycle is repeated. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 14 cl, 8 dwg
