FIELD: industrial microwave heating plants. SUBSTANCE: plant includes chamber, microwave unit, scanning mechanisms and devices for introducing and removing the drying agent. Microwave energy causes quick short-duration heating of inner layers of wood and makes moisture move from inner areas to surface. Drying process is effected at minor differentials of moisture in thickness of lumber, i.e. with no excessive internal stresses due to removal of moisture from surface by drying agent and moistening of surface due to action of microwave energy.
