FIELD: heating.
SUBSTANCE: method of timber drying consists in breaking the drying process in two stages: at the first stage a temperature gradient lengthwise along fibers of treated timber is created by means of an exterior source of power, this gradient owing to lengthwise diffusion of humidity leads to forming of continuous water "plugs" in each capillary, the minimum length of each is 2 mm in every capillary; at the second stage power of the exterior source is concentrated near borders of the water "plugs", thus achieving intensive heating and partial evaporation of water; as a result an excessive pressure inside timber is created and during a considerable period maintained; the said excessive pressure facilitates water "plugs" movement towards the edge of treated timber, at that an exterior source of power moves together with the borders of water "plugs", and further water is eliminated from the edge surfaces.
EFFECT: invention reduces power consumption cost for drying of anisotropic porous material and facilitates execution of process of high quality.
