FIELD: silicon-containing products. SUBSTANCE: solid residue, optionally with oxidizing agent, is fed into melting furnace where it melts to form molten metal phase containing silicon and calcium-silicate varnish. Molten metal phase and inert slag are discharged separately from melting furnace. According to invention, silicon or silicon-iron alloy are produced that may be used as additive in steel or cast iron production. Inert slag may find use as filler.
