FIELD: cable sheath integrity diagnostics; in-line location of cable sheath fault with cable held at gage pressure. SUBSTANCE: detector has on opposite ends of cable under check pressure gage with flat diaphragm and cylindrical spring connected to cable space held at gage pressure, flat diaphragm, pressure gage rod fixed with flat diaphragm. Newly introduced are optically coupled and arranged in tandem laser, condensing lens, collimating lens, focusing lens, turning mirror, reference hologram, reflector placed on pressure gage rod end, turning mirror, photodetector, threshold device electrically connected to photodetector, resolving unit electrically connected to threshold device.
