FIELD: industrial organic syntheses. SUBSTANCE: chloroform is produced through hydrogenation of carbon tetrachloride by a C10-C15-paraffin or C10-C15-paraffin mixture in liquid phase in presence of catalyst on carrier containing, as activated phase, cuprous chloride-caprolactam or cuprous chloride- dimethylformamide complex at temperature 150-200 C and contact time 3- 16 h. In a preferable embodiment of invention, carbon tetrachloride to paraffin molar ratio is (2-6):1. Reaction mass, once target product and non-reacted carbon tetrachloride are separated, is fractioned under vacuum to isolate chloroparaffins and, if necessary, non-reacted initial paraffin. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency. 3 cl, 2 tbl
