FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, refining of liquid metals and alloys in the course of melting and finishing. SUBSTANCE: melt before treatment with slag-forming materials is overheated to temperature of 1355-1375 C. Then, one part of metal is poured into ladle. Subject to treatment with slag-forming materials is 50-70% of melt. Further on, melt is overheated to 1400-1420 C. After slag flushing, metal is poured from furnace to ladle containing preliminarily poured part of metal which has not been treated with slag-forming materials used in the form of lime in the amount of 0.1-1.5% of melt weight and fluorspar in the amount of 0.2-0.3 of melt weight. EFFECT: provision of removal of 57% of sulfur from pig iron in furnaces with acid alining.
