FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for removing drift material from flushing tubes which are normally used for carrying drift material to discharge canal. According to method of protecting drift-control structures from being buried with drift material, accumulations of drift material are broken by water, bottom flushing opening is freed from drift material by directing water from circular pan to shaft from under lock and further into flushing opening through flushing pipeline in the form of elbow which is connected with discharge canal. Breaking of drift accumulations and freeing bottom flushing opening from drift material are carried out at reduced water level in discharge canal below minimal permissible design elevation by applying portions of compressed air intermittently delivered by compressor according to signals from time relay. Compressed air is delivered through air piping into elbow of flushing pipeline. If depth of overflow across shoulder of circular pan exceeds maximal permissible design elevation, drift is removed by water delivered from under lock which is operated by electric motor according to command signals from control post.
