SOD DRILL Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: agricultural production, in particular, drills and combined units for sowing grass seeds into sod. SUBSTANCE: sod drill has frame 1, cutter section 2 with working members formed as L-shaped blades 6. Cutter section 2 is mounted on frame 1 and provided with sod tillage depth regulating mechanism. Cutter section 2 is closed with housing 11 having seed guides 12, seed box 3 and covering rollers 4, which are mounted in rear part of housing 11. Circular blades 7 disposed on outer sides of disks 5 of cutter section 2 have outer diameter exceeding diameter of circle circumscribed by outer points of L-shaped blades and inner diameter at least equal to that of disks 5 of cutter section 2. Sod tillage depth regulating mechanism is made in the form of bracket 8, which may be adjusted in vertical plane. Bracket 8 has supporting roller 9 with cutter disks 10 positioned at both sides of supporting roller 9 in common planes with outer points of L-shaped blades 6 mounted on inner sides of disks of cutter section 2. Circular blades 7 and disks 10 cut edges of furrows in front of L-shaped blades, which grind sod. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified construction and improved quality of tilled sod. 3 cl, 2 dwg
