SOD DRILL Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: agricultural production. SUBSTANCE: sod drill has frame incorporating rotavator section, seed box with seeding units, seed guides and covering rolls. Rotavator section has tillage tools made in the form of two disks with knives and is covered with housing. Longitudinal section along the entire length of housing is made in the form of two joined surfaces with radius, which is determined from formula: R=b+ δ, where b is width of rotavator, m, and δ is admissible gap between housing and rotavator, m. Rotavator drive is positioned centrally of housing. Seed guides are mounted in rear part of housing. Pressure exerted to soil by rotavator section and covering rolls is adjusted by springs. Drill may be used for sowing grass seeds into sod soil. EFFECT: improved quality of sowing grass seed into sod and provision for retention of herbage on untilled part of plot. 2 dwg
