FIELD: inorganic chemistry; powder metallurgy; production of composite polycrystalline materials belonging to Ti-B system for use as wear-resistant and abrasive materials. SUBSTANCE: material comprises compositionally and structurally different components taken in the following weight ratio, wt. -%: TiB~55, 1-99; TiB~55, 99-1. It is heterophase material consisting of hard and highly abrasive TiB~55 crystals imbedded into softer, but more plastic matrix TiB~55. TiB~55 boride is constituted by polyhedrally shaped crystals having hexagonal syngonia and the following lattice cell parameters: a = 11.78±0.005 ; c = 23.43±0.005 . Components are present in material in the following ratio, wt.-% titanium, 7-8; boron, 93-93. EFFECT: higher valuable properties. 3 tbl
