FIELD: petroleum processing and petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method includes oxidative treatment of oil distillates (gasoline, kerosene, and diesel fractions) by air oxygen in reactor with stationary catalytic mass bed containing metal-phthalocyanine catalyst on polymer carrier and solid sodium or potassium oxide or hydroxide placed in catalyst bed in amount 5 to 50% based on the catalyst weight. According to invention, solid alkali metal oxide or hydroxide is preliminarily treated by oil distillate and liquid product of interaction of solid oxide or hydroxide with acidic impurities contained in distillate is withdrawn from reactor bottom to be periodically returned into catalytic mass bed as mercaptan oxidation promoter.
