FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of purifying high-boiling hydrocarbon fractions from mercaptan compounds and can be used in oil producing, oil and gas refining and petrochemical industries. Invention relates to a method of purifying high-boiling hydrocarbon fractions from mercaptans in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst and an alkaline agent, where the reaction takes place in an oxygen-free medium at temperatures from 40 to 90 °C, alkaline agent used is aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide with concentration of 5 to 50 wt%, as catalyst – copper (I) and/or (II) oxides, introduced into polyethylene or polypropylene in concentration from 1.0 to 40.0 wt%.

EFFECT: simpler and safer method compared to the prototype for cleaning high-boiling hydrocarbon fractions from mercaptan compounds.
