FIELD: transport engineering, lifting facilities; cable locks for splicing towing, freight or other cables; wedge bushing or coupling for connecting cables to hanger members of load gripping mechanisms or other objects in different fields of action where load lifting, logging, winch, towing and other mechanisms are used. SUBSTANCE: steel cable coupling has housing with partition dividing it into two equal halves and installed at angle to its longitudinal axis, and rollers installed at both sides of partition for free displacement in housing spaces in two directions. Rollers are made to provide wedging of one two cables in spaces of housing halves. Coupling is made to provide self wedging of cable when it is pulled to other side. Cable clamping effort rises with increase in tension load. Simple design of coupling, consisting of four walls, partition and two-four rollers, makes it possible to manufacture the coupling according to modern technologies on up-to-date equipment even at semiautomatic or automatic methods of operation.
