SUBSTANCE: device for replacing the roller batteries (15) on the supports (13) of aerial ropeways has a replacement means (10) that can be moved along the rope (14) of the aerial ropeway, and at least two winches (3, 4) with ropes (8, 9) with which the roller battery (15) to be replaced can be lowered, and the new roller battery (15) can be lifted. The replacement means (10) has at least two vehicles (1, 2, 6, 7) connected to each other which are connected to the rope (14) by means of clamps (16 to 19). The invention also relates to a method for replacing roller batteries on aerial ropeway supports.

EFFECT: absence of need to lay the old and the new roller battery on the ground under the support.
