GAS CLEANING DEVICE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: entrapping toxic components from flue gases of marine boilers. SUBSTANCE: device includes soot collector mounted on upper end of smoke stack which is combined with water sprayer; secured at the bottom of the stack are swirling blades made from two semielliptical plates secured on in inner surface of pipe by means of electric welding; curvilinear edges form turn of spiral and straight edges of plates slightly overlap each other in projection on plane perpendicular to pipe axis. Besides that, straight edges of plates are bent upward forming cavity for reception of suspended contaminants and sprinkling water containing the toxic components of flue gases dissolved in it which fall on blades; then suspended contaminants are removed to boiler surface and toxic components of flue gases are removed to sewage system through branch pipe fitted with screen. Soot collector mounted on upper end of smoke stack is combined with water sprayer and is made in form of welded chamber embracing the smoke duct; sea water is fed to this cavity from hydrophore; water is sprayed into smoke duct through joint of inner envelope of chamber with its upper head. Soot collector is formed by ferrule whose diameter is lesser than diameter of pipe welded into central hole of upper head o chamber of the same diameter. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 3 cl, 1 dwg
