FIELD: metallurgy; production of alloys of rare-earth and rare metals by the method of calcium thermic reduction; applicable in production of alloys and alloying compositions including iron-neodymium-boron and others used for manufacture of high-energy magnets. SUBSTANCE: the offered apparatus has body with cover, lined crucible with heat-insulating member with fill and device for initiation of reaction. Base of heat-insulating member is perforated and provided with easily destructible backing from easily burning or low-melting material. EFFECT: higher operate reliability due to reduced temperature loads onto walls of apparatus body and crucible and reduced effect of reaction products, more complete utilization of reaction heat due to provision of additional heat insulating layer and fill. 3 cl, 1 dwg
