FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: draft gear has housing 1 in form of bushing 2 closed at one side by bottom plate, support plate 7 shifted relative to housing and elastomer shock absorber 4 partly arranged inside housing. Support surfaces on outer surface of shock absorber are used to carry one side of insert 14. Housing is provided with support surfaces on which insert rests by other side. Draft gear is preliminarily compressed so that support surfaces are moved apart, insert is placed in space, thus formed, and then gear is installed in coupler chamber. EFFECT: simplified design, improved efficiency of absorption of shock energy in automatic couplers. 8 cl, 6 dwg
