FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to road building technology by erecting icy crossings through rivers and lakes in northern regions. According to method, icy crossing is erected by removing snow and natural build-up of ice with subsequent formation of crossing lane when thickness of ice reaches 9-10 cm. Icy surface of carriage way lane of crossing is cleared of snow after each snowfall event. At prolonged snowfall precipitation events, carriage way lane is cleared of snow at regular cycles so as to keep icy surface clean. In this action snow is pushed to both sides of carriage way lane thus creating thermal insulation layers to prevent snow drifts and creating carriage way lane with convex configuration in lateral cross-section. After reaching thickness of ice sufficient for passing motor vehicles, surface of carriage way lane is made rough. Realization of above procedure increases load carrying capacity of icy crossing and prolongs period of its functioning and also makes vehicle traffic more safe. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl
