FIELD: ice engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method for creating an ice crossing includes the formation of stiffening ribs on the lower surface of the ice cover when exposed to negative temperatures. Stiffening ribs are formed by making an ice crossing on the ice cover with a layer of snow along the axis and by making, on the sides of its axis, sections of the ice cover clear of snow in the form of strips and by simultaneous formation of snow banks from the snow removed when creating clean sections. Stripes and snow banks are formed within the width of the crossing, not exceeding the wavelength of the static deflection of the ice cover. The width of the stripes and snow banks is chosen to be minimal, but sufficient to ensure the greatest difference in the thickness of the ice that freezes under them.
EFFECT: increased cylindrical rigidity of the ice plate and, accordingly, the carrying capacity of the ice crossing.
